The Longest Day: A Commitment Beyond Diagnosis
The Longest Day marks the summer solstice and the day with the most sunlight. For Prothena and the rest of the Alzheimer’s disease community, it also represents our unwavering commitment to spread light on the families touched by diseases like Alzheimer’s and dementia.
That mission comes to life with stories like LuPita and Jessica’s – a mother and daughter whose commitment to one another embody what this day is all about.
LuPita currently lives with dementia*. During the early stages of her diagnosis, her daughter Jessica made the difficult decision to leave her life in Seattle and move home to care for her mother. Together, they navigate difficult choices and daily challenges with love, humor, and determination.
Their story reminds us why our work matters, and why our shared commitment to supporting patients and their care partners, driving research, and finding a cure must never waver. We invite you to hear firsthand from LuPita and Jessica as they reflect on how life changed after LuPita’s diagnosis and hope for progress in the field. Learn more about Alzheimer’s disease here.
