Martin Koller, M.D.

Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Koller has served as our Chief Medical Officer since 2013. Prior to joining Prothena, he served as Chief Medical Officer of Sonexa Therapeutics, Inc., a position he held from 2009 to 2013. From 2007 to 2009, Dr. Koller was an independent consultant to various small and medium sized pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. From 2002 to 2007, he was Vice President of Clinical Development at Elan Pharmaceuticals, Inc., overseeing a national, and then international, drug development group. Dr. Koller is a board-certified neurologist with 25 years of pharmaceutical industry experience in drug development from Phases 1-4, and has been involved with a number of Investigational New Drugs and New Drug Applications in several indications (including Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, cervical dystonia, pain, anti-epileptics, migraine, stroke, anxiety and depression). He earned his B.A. from Franklin and Marshall College, his M.D. from the University of Maryland at Baltimore and his M.P.H. with an emphasis in epidemiology from the University of Texas at Houston.
